The Kenyan Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has reportedly denied claims made by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) that it is accountable for paying the salary of Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy.
McCarthy signed a two-year contract with FKF to lead the Kenya football national team. He brought along three South African assistants, Vasili Manousakis, Moeneeb Josephs, and Pilela Maposa.

Reports in Kenya have indicated that the former Manchester United striker trainer and ex-AmaZulu coach will be earning Ksh8 million (R1.1 million) monthly.
The FKF Director of Communication Jeff Kinyanjui took to Facebook quickly to refute the salary claims.
"There have been false reports claiming Benni McCarthy will be earning Ksh 8 million a month. To be clear, this is inaccurate.
"The coach's salary is paid by the government and falls under SRC guidelines. Even the entire technical bench does not earn such an amount collectively.
"Let's uphold responsible reporting and avoid misleading the public. Spreading misinformation not only misguides fans but also distracts from the real work of supporting our national team. Let's focus on facts and back the team constructively."
The FKF Director of Communication Jeff Kinyanjui also revealed on social media that the government will handle the payment though the SRC's guidelines.
"The coach's salary is paid by the government and falls under the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) guidelines. Even the entire technical bench does not earn such an amount collectively." Kinyanjui's facebook post read.
However, a supposed unnamed SRC official speaking to the Kenyan outlet Daily Nation, has denied those assertions.
''I have checked, and there is no such arrangement," an SRC official told the Daily Nation, per pulsesports.co.ke.

''SRC has never been involved in paying national team coaches as civil servants. If this was done for Harambee Stars, other federations would make similar demands.
"If McCarthy is being paid, it would be through FKF or a deal with the Ministry of Sports, not SRC. This matter is outside our mandate."
