EPL star: What makes African football tougher

Former Orlando Pirates and current English Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers star Marshall Munetsi has pointed out crucial aspects that differentiate African football from that of Europe.

The Zimbabwe international achieved a dream move to Wolves on deadline day during the recent January transfer window from the French Ligue 1 club Stade Reims.

Before moving to France in 2019, he spent no more than a year in South Africa, playing for both the Buccaneers and the National First Division team Baroka FC, respectively.

The 28-year-old Munetsi, who is currently showcasing his talent in the EPL and has already netted a goal for the Wanderers, has articulated his reasons for believing that African football is more challenging than that of Europe.

"African football is much more difficult than European football," Munetsi said per Pan Africa Football.

"They always say it is much more difficult winning away in Africa than it is in Europe and that is why you always rule us out.

"There is always the weather and some funny tricks that are happening so you get experience from playing and seeing how other people are achieving.

"I think I have only been there for about a month or so now so I  can't really say it has helped  me, but spending my time in France and South Africa, playing against some of the big names in football and also sharing the pitch with good leaders is something you take as you go."
