Ex-Bucs star 'in talks' with new African club

After his latest stint overseas lasted just one month, a former Orlando Pirates star, who left the Soweto giants in June, is now reportedly in talks with a new club in Africa.

Souaibou Marou's move to Pirates left a lot to be desired as the player made just nine appearances in 18 months at the club before he was released in June 2024.

In August, the 23-year-old secured a move to Al-Shabab Club in Bahrain, but that spell was short-lived as the striker parted ways with the team just a month later without making any appearances.

Now, reports in his native country suggests that the Cameroonian is working on a deal to return to his homeland.

According to 237foot, Marou is now in talks with Cameroon top-flight club Fauve Azur, int he hopes of signing a one-year deal.

It is claimed the forward is in search of stability as he has ambitions to play at the 2025 African Nations Championship, which will hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania between 1 and 28 February 2025.

At Pirates, the player had strong competition for minutes on the pitch in the likes Zakhele Lepasa, Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Marou was one of the most highly rated talents in Cameroon during his time at Coton Sport, and was given his national team debut at the age of 21 by then-manager Rigobert Song in September 2022.
