It is now reported that coach Pitso Mosimane was one of the leading candidates shortlisted by an African nation, but the South African has since missed out on what would have reportedly made him the second-highest-paid national team coach on the continent.
Mosimane is yet to take up a job following his recent departure from Iranian side Esteghlal FC in January. The South African terminated his contract with the aforementioned side due to non-payment of his dues.

However, since his exit from the Persian Gulf was confirmed, Mosimane has already been linked with a few roles in Africa.
It was reported in February that Zamalek SC considered appointing him as head coach, but the club later opted to hire former Nigeria national team coach José Peseiro.
A new report now claims that Mosimane was also shortlisted for another job as the Libya national team head coach.
According to Al-Wasat Newspaper, the Libyan Football Federation shortlisted Mosimane as one of their most ideal candidates to head the national team, alongside Carlos Queiroz and Aliou Cissé.
The job has since been awarded to the former Senegal manager Cissé, who arrived in Benghazi on Sunday ahead of his unveiling ceremony on Tuesday.
Fawzi Jaouda, the Vice President of the Libyan Football Federation, revealed the reasons behind the local FA's decision to appoint a Senegalese coach as the new head of the Libyan national team, ahead of several other candidates who were in contention to succeed Nasser Al-Hadhiri.
According to Qatar Messenger, Jaouda explained: "Aliou is the best choice for the national team in the coming period, thanks to his extensive experience in African football.
"His successes with his national team speak for themselves, and the Senegalese coach can help Libyan players achieve further development."
Cissé will reportedly earn approximately R1.4 million per month as Libya's boss, which is said to make him the second-highest-paid national team coach in Africa, behind Algeria boss Vladimir Petkovic.
