One of Europe's biggest sides are reportedly willing to quadruple Xabi Alonso's wages to stop him from joining Liverpool next season.
Alonso is reportedly a wanted man as he has Bayer Leverkusen sitting top of the Bundesliga eight points clear of defending champions Bayern Munich.
Bayern, meanwhile, have already confirmed coach Thomas Tuchel will be leaving at the end of the season, which has feulled speculation about Alonso who is a former Bayern player.

Many have tipped Alonso to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield next campaign, but now it seems the Bavarians are doing their best to win his signature.
According to the Mirror, Bayern are willing to make Alonso one of the highest paid coaches in the world should he decided to join.
Leverkusen are the only side with unbeaten record in Europe's top five leagues while they are also in contention to win the UEFA Europa League.
The report adds that Bayern are prepared to offer the Spanish coach a £20million-a-year salary, which would make him the highest paid in Germany while also being par with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
For context, Klopp reportedly earns £15million-a-year at Liverpool, who are searching for their next manager.
Liverpool have also been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion's Roberto de Zerbi and Tottenham Hotspur's Ange Postecoglou.
