After becoming the world's most expensive 17-year-old, Jude Bellingham has now received the honour of having his old jersey number retired by Birmingham City.
On Wednesday, Bellingham played his last match for Birmingham ahead of his £25 million (R526 million) move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

That figure, which could rise even further if certain performance-based clauses are met, is the most any club has ever paid for a 17-year-old and sees the England youth international join countryman Jadon Sancho in Dortmund.
Following Bellingham's departure, Birmingham posted an emotional message on their club website and revealed that his No. 22 jersey had been retired in honour of his remarkable rise through the ranks at the club.

"His caring, humble and engaging off-the-field demeanour has also made him such an impressive role model," the club said in an official statement.
"The 22 shirt has become synonymous with Jude, his rise to the first team aged just 16 years and 38 days and these qualities... As such, the club have decided it would be fitting to retire this number, to remember one of our own and to inspire others."
