Big Liverpool decision for Salah confirmed

A big decision regarding Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has now been confirmed as the club begins its preparations for the new season under their new boss.

With Egypt taking part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Pharaohs were believed to have been keen to potentially call up the attacker, who would be included as one of the three over-aged players they are allowed to have in the squad for that competition.

However, after talks between the nation and the Merseysiders, it has been decided that Salah will stay put and participate in Liverpool's pre-season preparations under new head coach Arne Slot, according to The Athletic

The English giants were able to refute Egypt's request to select the ex-Roma forward because the Olympics is not a tournament sanctioned by FIFA. As such, it is not obligatory on clubs to allow their players to compete in it.

The Merseyside club will travel to the United States on 23 July for beginning of their pre-season fixtures.

They will face LALIGA team Real Betis just three days after touching down, followed by friendly encounters against Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

Slot will be looking to shape the Reds in his image after taking over from Jurgen Klopp, and will also be boosted by the availability of both Salah and Wataru Endo.

The midfielder was a candidate to play the Japanese side that will also be competing at the Olympics, with the Samurai Blue wanting Endo to be one of their over-aged players, but it was decided that he will also be participating in the EPL side's preparations for the upcoming season instead.
