England's Harry Kane on 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot award and proving himself internationally

With six goals, Harry Kane became only the second English player to ever win the Golden Boot, after Gary Lineker in 1986.

And despite ousting Romelu Lukaku, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo to the award, he openly admits he wasn't at his best during the global showpiece as the Three Lions fell at the semi-final stage.

"The Euros were disappointing. If anything I wanted to prove to myself I could score at this level. I've scored at every other level and it was important I did that.

"I'm extremely proud and I'm sure I'll look back in a few weeks' time and take all these experiences in. It's hard to do that now because we are still disappointed," Kane added,
