Former Manchester United and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Gary Bailey has revealed how much he earned at the Premier League club in comparison to current stopper David de Gea.
This week, de Gea and United ended speculation surrounding his long-term future with a new bumper contract that's reportedly made him the second highest earner at the club.
And Bailey, who amassed 294 appearances for the Red Devils between 1978 and 1987, expressed his delight and astonishment by the latest extension.
"Delighted that De Gea has committed to staying at United," he wrote on social media before revealing how much he earned two decades ago.
"At same age and number of appearances, I was on $400 per week. He will be on $400 000 per week. I'm not jealous at all."
Bailey started his career in South Africa with Cape Town City in 1975 and enjoyed stints with Wits University and Chiefs between his spell at Old Trafford.
Delighted that DeGea has committed to staying at United ... at same age and number of appearances, I was on $400 per week ... he will be on $400 000 per week ...I’m not jealous at all ??????
