The Stavely-led PCP Capital Partners Group were believed to have made an approach for controlling stakes in the Reds, one which was shot down by the Anfield board.
However, Werner insists those claims are fabricated, telling the Liverpool Echo: “We have better things to do than batting down rumours about negotiations with Ms Staveley.
“However, there's no truth to them.”
Stavely is said to have since turned attentions to a possible takeover at Newcastle, where owner Mike Ashley has put the Tyneside club up for sale after more than a decade in charge.
