Manchester United: Phil Neville signs son Harvey for Inter Miami

David Beckham-owned Inter Miami have completed the signing of 18-year-old defender Harvey Neville from Manchester United, with the youngster having already trained with the MLS club's first team.

Neville, whose father Phil is the current head coach in Miami, had previously been part of the Red Devils' U-23 side but is said to have moved to the States in pursuit of regular first-team football, according to The Sun.

The report adds that the teenage starlet is still waiting to receive the required visa before taking to the pitch and that he set to join affiliate team Fort Lauderdale in the second division once the paperwork has been sorted out.

"It was his decision to leave Manchester United and every move he's made has been like that," Neville Snr. said following his son's move to the US.

"He has taken some brave moves in his career, he came out to do some training and to see his dad and really enjoyed it. He impressed everybody but it is quite difficult (for me) because when he's at the club he is just another player.

"So I have left a lot of the decision making on Harvey to other people at the club, Anthony Pulis has taken a real interest in him. I am harder on Harvey than on any other player in the team but ultimately he has signed for the USL team and it's a great opportunity for him.

"He's so excited to be here and it is a new adventure for him. The proud part for me as a father is that it is hard to leave Manchester United, normally when people leave there is that almost death-like feeling that your dream can't come true.

"But he has known for probably three, four, five months that to succeed he will have to leave because not everyone makes it at United so he is level headed about that. But he also knows he has a lot of hard work and development and a lot of days on the road with the USL team to keep improving."

Neville is the latest English player to join Inter Miami in recent times, after the club previously secured the signatures of former Three Lions internationals Kieran Gibbs and Ryan Shawcross from West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City, respectively.
