Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admits to struggling in front of goal this season

Aubameyang, who has scored an incredible 76 goals in 127 appearances since joining the Gunners in 2018, appears to have lost his Midas touch this season after managing a return of just six goals in 18 matches across all competitions.

The 2018/19 Premier League Golden Boot co-winner's struggles in front of goal have contributed towards Arsenal lying in the bottom half of the league table and he has admitted that his personal performances have not been at the level he demands of himself.

"From the beginning of this season I was struggling a lot but I think this is part of football," Aubameyang told Sky Sports. "We gave a lot at the end of [last] season to win the FA Cup and to qualify for the Europa League because it was really important for the club.

"Sometimes you have ups and downs and you have to manage as best you can. I tried my best and until now it was not the best performance from me. I'm still positive. I think I can turn this around."

The Gabon international also revealed that it has been a challenge for him to simultaneously rediscover his form and motivate his teammates, but that he was refusing to be disheartened by his and Arsenal's struggles throughout the campaign.

"It's really hard to manage both but you have to be as positive as you can because the team needs you," the former Borussia Dortmund star added. "I always try to give my best, not only on the pitch but also in the dressing room for the guys.

"Sometimes it's hard and maybe you are not in the right mood but you have to find a way to change it and give positive vibes for the guys.

"At the moment we are playing well and we have to follow this way. If we win the [next] couple of games that are coming we can turn around the situation. We are not so far from the top six so this is the moment to be back in the competition."
