Arsenal back on track after six-goal thriller at Villa

Arsenal rallied from behind on two occasions to secure a 4-2 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Manager Mikel Arteta gave a first start to Leandro Trossard and surprisingly dropped striker Gabriel Martinelli to the bench following Wednesday's defeat against Manchester City.

However, Villa were off to the perfect start five minutes in as Ollie Watkins pulled towards the far side from a diagonal ball in-behind and produced a step-over to slot in the far corner.

The Clarets lead was cancelled after 15 minutes when Bukayo Saka latched onto a poor headed clearance by Tyrone Mings and volleyed in to leave Emiliano Martinez rooted to his area.

Unai Emery's outfit restored the lead on the half-hour mark after Emiliano Buendia dummied a low pass to former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho to find the bottom-corner from the edge of the area.

After a dominant half, the Clarets were under threat ten minutes in the second half and had Eddie Nketiah head a clipped ball from Ben White against the crossbar.

Villa did lost the lead for the second time after five minutes as Oleksandr Zinchenko opened a yard of space on the edge of the area and rifled into the bottom-corner following a short-corner.

With the intensity under control, Arteta introduced Martinelli inside the closing 20 minutes for former Brighton Hove Albion man Trossard.

Arsenal got a big inviting chance to take the lead 12 minutes from time after Martin Odegaard steered a cutback from Nketiah following a loose pass wide.

The Clarets, though, could've gone back in front with a thumping strike by Leon Bailey eight minutes before time from a tight angle, but Ramsdale parried onto the woodwork.

Arteta's boys got the winner three minutes in additional time after a first-time shot outside the area by Jorginho bounced off the upright before ricocheting off Martinez and into the net.

The fourth goal arrived with the last kick of the game when Martinez committed himself for a corner and left the goal gaping, which Martinelli to go clear and slot home to see out the clash and returned Arsenal to winning ways.
