The Blues made one change from last weekend’s win over Fulham, with Romeo Lavia coming in for Reece James.
It was a lively start for the host who looked to go ahead in the opening-quarter through Noni Madueke’s rasping shot outside the area, but Jordan Pickford got down and parried.

Former Wolves talisman Pedro Neto looked to double their lead two minutes later from a probing free-kick into the area, but Pickford cleared their lines.
Everton regained momentum a minute into stoppage time and saw Abdoulaye Doucoure put Moses Caicedo in a spot of bother in the six-yard box.
Toffees manager David Moyes decided to run the changes at the break thus introduced Carlos Alcaraz in the place of Iliman Ndiaye.
Madueke went close again five minutes from the resumption with a half-volley from a corner by Neto, but Pickford repelled him once again.
Chelsea enjoyed more moments to extending their lead from a delivery to the area by Enzo Fernandez, but Jarrad Branthwaite hurried back and cleared the danger.
Beto came close to level matters a little later with a thumping effort following a run in-behind the defence, but Robert Sanchez pushed to safety.
The latter came good again a minute to the end when he produced a tremendous save to keep a first-time volley from Dwight McNeil out of goal.
Enzo Maresca’s men were composed in additional time and wrapped up the victory to maintain their top-four ambitions.
