Liverpool secure back-to-back EPL wins

Liverpool made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

As expected, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided no changes to the starting eleven after their dismantling of Leeds United during Monday's action.

There weren't too many openings following the start before a delightful curler of a delivery from Trent Alexander-Arnold following a free-kick drew a sharp save off Keylor Navas.

Forest came up short at the half-hour mark where Scott McKenna pulled up with an injury and was rightfully sacrificed for Joe Worrall who came on for him.

With few chances either way before the close of the first half, the Reds missed a golden chance when Diogo Jota steered a delightful delivery from Alexander-Arnold wide with the goal in sight.

Jota amended two minutes after halftime where he met a layoff across the face of the area from Fabinho following a corner-kick and guided past Navas to make it 1-0.

Forest raced back and were on level terms three minutes apart when former Reds player Neco Williams brought a telling ball from Morgan Gibbs-White under control and dispatched past Alisson Becker.

The Reds regained control ten minutes in the second half after Jota found acres of space in the box and volleyed in a free-kick from Andrew Robertson.

However, the clawed back again around the midway point during the second stanza as Gibbs-White pounced on uncertain bit of defending before beating Alisson.

Liverpool, though, remained resilient with 20 minutes to play and went ahead again after a ball in from Alexander-Arnold met Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian applied a first-time finish past Navas.

The visitors very nearly pulled level again in the space of minutes through a close-range strike from Brennan Johnson, but he hit the woodwork.

In the end, the Reds survived the final stages of the match and earned a hard-fought victory that strengthened their push towards the top-four.
