The Villans confirmed on Tuesday evening that the Brazilian had completed his medical ahead of his reunion with ex-teammate Steven Gerrard.
The 29-year-old left on loan after a difficult time at Camp Nou, where his reported €135 million (R2.3 billion) price tag might have overshadowed his performances in Spain.

It is believed that Villa will pay less than 50% of Coutinho's weekly wage and bonuses, with an option to buy included in the attacking midfielder's loan deal.
