Karim Benzema to leave Real Madrid?

Karim Benzema has reportedly issued an ultimatum to the Real Madrid board amid their search for a new forward.

The Frenchman has been in fine form over the past couple of years, seeing him earn a fourth-place finish in the final 2021 Ballon d'Or ranking in November.

Despite Benzema's impressive tally of 24 goals across all competitions so far in this campaign, however, Los Blancos have been widely linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland.

Speculation regarding the potential transfer increased when Football Espana reported that the Norwegian wants to join the LaLiga giants despite interest from other European clubs.

However, Benzema is not happy about Real's pursuit of the striker, so much so that he has issued a strong warning to the club's hierarchy, according to El Nacional.

It is claimed that the 34-year-old has told president Florentino Perez he will leave the Santiago Bernabeu if they sign Haaland.

While Real have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe, Benzema is believed to be fine with the idea of his France teammate joining due to the good understanding they have developed while representing Les Bleus.

The duo's partnership resulted in them both scoring a goal to give Didier Deschamps' side a 2-1 win over Spain in their 2020/21 UEFA Nations League triumph in October last year.
