LALIGA leaders FC Barcelona missed the chance to open a seven-point lead over Real Madrid after losing 2-1 to Las Palmas on Saturday evening.
The suspension of Marc Casado opened space for Gavi to start for Barca while Pablo Torre and Alejandro Balde completed the remainder of the changes.
Former Barca keeper Jasper Cillessen denied his ex-employers a sixth-minute lead with a strong palm from a rasping shot right of the box by Firmin Lopez.
Barcelona gradually piled threats before the midway mark and brought the visitors to guard intricate movements of Raphinha and Pedri pretty carefully.
However, a substitution were required by the host just ahead of the half-hour mark after Balde struggled to carry on playing and replaced by Gerard Martin.
Raphinha, who have been the star for the home team this season, came close on the stroke of halftime when he came short to cut in off two challengers and rattled the crossbar.
Manager Hansi Flick made yet another substitution before the second half, bringing on Lamine Yamal in the place of Torre.
The introduction didn't scare the travelling team who went in front when Sandro made a galloping run towards the area following a first-time pass and fired in the bottom-corner.
Barca were on equal terms just past the 60th minute after Pedri released Raphinha to turn amidst a number of bodies around him outside the box and smashed in the bottom-corner.
It still didn't fear the visitors who regained the lead seven minutes later as Fabio Silva ran onto a through pass from Javier Munoz wide of the area and finished smartly.
Flick's men looked to go level once again, but battled to break down the buoyant visiting team who still enjoyed a succession of overloads in defence and attack.
In the end, the Blaugrana were unable to rally back and succumbed to yet another defeat with Las Palmas picking up a famous victory.
