LaLiga match report Barcelona v Levante 26 September 2021

Barcelona returned to winning ways in LaLiga after a commanding 3-0 win over Levante, with Ansu Fati making his return on Sunnday afternoon.

Barca made three changes, one enforced, as Frenkie De Jong missed out due to suspension and he was replaced by Nico Gonzalez, while Philippe Coutinho and Eric Garcia were brought back to the line-up.

Ronald Koeman's charges had a dream start after they were awarded a penalty in the sixth minute after Memphis Depay was brought down inside the box and Depay took the spot-kick himself and sent goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez the wrong way,

Blaugrana doubled the lead in the 14th minute courtesy of a close-range finish by Luuk de Jong, who scored his first goal for the club after he was picked out by Sergino Dest..

Depay had a big opportunity to get the third goal for Barca just before the half-time break after he was picked out by Oscar Mingueza with a cross, unmarked at the back post but his powerful header was tipped over the bar by Fernandez.

Levante made a double change ten minutes after the half-time break for fresh legs, as Jose Morales came on for Gomez and Pablo Martinez came on for Nemanja Radoja, while five minutes later Koeman withdrew Coutinho and brought on Riqui Puig

Fernandes was keeping Levante in the game as he denied Depay the third goal for Blaugrana in the 66th minute after the Dutchman latched onto a through ball over the defence.

De Jong came close to adding a thrid goal for the hosts in the last ten minutes after a great leap inside the six-yard box but his header missed just wide and just after that Koeman finally introduced Fati, who made an emotional return after a long-term injury in place of the lanky Dutch striker.

Alejandro Cantero almost put the game on the edge for Levante in the last seven minutes after going through on goal but his cracking low strike was saved by shot-stopper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Fati made an immediate impact, as finally made 3-0 for Blaugrana with a wonderful low dipping strike from outside the box, as Barca moved up to fifth on the log with 12 points.
