PSG are understood to have agreed an £8.6 million (R170 million) deal to buy Galtier out of his contract with his former club.
The incoming boss has signed a two-year deal scheduled to end in 2024.
The French manager steered Nice to a fifth-place finish in the 2021/22 campaign, and also helped them reach the final of the Coupe de France, which they lost to Nantes.
Nice have since hired former Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre as Galtier's successor.

"I am moved, I am proud," Galtier insisted at the press conference, per Media Parisien.
"We are all going to have to work together. I measure the responsibility, and we will make sure to have a great season.
"I accepted this position and if I accepted this responsibility, it is because I am capable of it. Together we are much stronger.
"The presence of Luis Campos was a determining factor. I accepted the coaching position with great humility.
"There are a lot of skeptics, I understand that but I am ready."
