BREAKING: Manchester United confirm new midfield signing!

Manchester United have now confirmed the signing of their newest midfielder.

Manuel Ugarte, 23, has joined the Red Devils in a deal reportedly worth an initial £42 million (R987 million), plus a further £8.4 million (R197 million) in add-ons.

The defensive midfielder is said to have landed in Manchester on Tuesday evening, with the move having reportedly gained pace after United agreed a deal with Napoli for the transfer of Scott McTominay.

United's technical director Jason Wilcox is said to have been influential in finalising the Ugarte deal, with an agreement with the player having been in place long before the two clubs agreed on a fee on Monday during negotiations in Paris.

Ugarte starred in 37 matches for PSG last season, while at senior international level, he has been capped 22 times by Uruguay to date.

Reports in France suggest that PSG were not willing to lose the player for a fee below what they bought him for in July 2023, and it is understood that the Parisians have also managed to include a 10% sell-on clause in the deal.
