Cristiano Ronaldo wins Golden Foot award

Juventus and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the 2020 Golden Foot Award.

Italian publication Football Italia previously confirmed that Ronaldo had been decided as the winner of the prestigious Golden Foot award on 1 December 2020, and the Bianonceri star received the accolade in Monaco on Sunday.

A player can only receive the award, which seeks to honour "athletic achievements and personality", once in their career and the winner leaves a permanent mould of his footprints on the Champions Promenade on the seafront in Monaco.

"Receiving this award is an honour, I am happy that my footprints will be close to those of other great champions and I thank all the public who voted for me," said Ronaldo, as per the club's official website. "I will always do my best to play well and score goals."

The Portuguese forward's award ceremony took place behind closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Ronaldo finished second in the voting for the FIFA Best Men's Player of the Year last week, although he did make the FIFPro World XI.
