Serie A match report Juventus vs Hellas Verona

Weston Mckennie was named on the bench, as Juve recalled Merih Demiral, Arthur Melo and Paulo Dybala from Tuesday's win over FC Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League group stages. Cristiano Ronaldo was still out after testing positive for a Covid-19 again this week.

The Old Lady targeted a swift start after Federico Bernardeschi chased a through ball from Aaron Ramsey before going on to sting the gloves of Marco Silvestri in the opening exchanges.

The Bianconeri should've gone to halftime in front through Juan Cuadrado, but the Colombian smacked a low cross from the left onto the crossbar.

Juventus hit the front nonetheless courtesy of Alvaro Morata in additional time, but the goal was chalked off by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), with the Spaniard caught offside.

The away side came out for the second half high in spirits, as a first-time volley from Ebrima Colley flew narrowly past Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Hellas put on a double substitution ten minutes from resumption in Giangiacomo Magnani and Andrea Favilli who set in for Nikola Kalinic and Federico Ceccherini.

Favilli made his presence felt five minutes later when he got on the end of a pacey move for a cracking finish off a ball from Mattia Zaccagni.

Dybala was unfortunately denied the equaliser in the last 14 minutes when a teasing attempt in the area deflected onto the crossbar and back into play.

The equaliser came on 77 minutes after Dejan Kulusevski tossed and turned into the area from out wide before curling into the far corner.

Juventus pushed for the winner in the latter stages of the encounter, but Hellas held out for a massive point.
