Napoli have axed Nigeria star Victor Osimhen from their Serie A squad for the 2024/25 season after his move to Chelsea fell through.
The Super Eagles star reportedly received offers from the Blues and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli on the final day of the transfer window.

Napoli seemingly had an agreement with the Saudi team, but Osimhen was keen on a move to Chelsea although the offer did not satisfy the players, according to Sky Sport Italia.
However, the 25-year-old will not be playing for the Naples in the Serie A after he was not registered with the club, while his number nine jersey was given to Romelu Lukaku.
"We did not just bring in players to build on an existing team, but to fill certain empty slots, and I am happy with the work done by the club," he told reporters.
"If we had been able to sell Osimhen, it would've been an even better situation, but what happened cannot be changed and we move on."
Meanwhile, Lukaku made a mark on his debut for the club after coming off the bench to net the equaliser in Napoli's 2-1 win over Parma on Saturday evening.
Director Giovanni Manna spoke about the possibility of Osimhen leaving as the Saudi Arabian transfer window is still open.
"The transfer market is still open, there are many options, but I don't think Victor will go to Saudi Arabia in this transfer session," he said, as per DAZN.
"Our ideas were clear from the start. We were waiting to sell Victor to finance these operations, but the sale did not arrive and the President took on the responsibility to invest and reboot. He took on all the risk, he was incredible."
