Allegri hails 'world-class' Buffon

The 37-year-old Italy international produced a number of fine saves as the Old Lady held Los Blancos to a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital to secure their progress to the final of this year’s Champions League.

"Buffon had an extraordinary game in Madrid from a technical standpoint,” Allegri told a press conference on Friday ahead of this weekend’s Serie A encounter against Inter Milan.

“Buffon is world class. He's been in the business for a while now and still has the enthusiasm of a youngster.”

Having already secured the League title, the Juve coach says he will rest many of his stars for tomorrow’s clash, which may see the return of Ghanaian star Kwadwo Asamoah, who has endured a long injury lay-off.

“Tomorrow I'll have the chance to rest a few players,” he said.
"I'll have the opportunity to hand game time to those who have played less, like Kwadwo Asamoah for example.

"I didn't call up [Arturo] Vidal, [Carlos] Tevez, [Andrea] Pirlo, Buffon or [Patrice] Evra. They will all stay at home.”

The Bianconeri are still on course for the treble this season, with their Italian Cup Final clash against Lazio next week, thus the decision made by Allegri to rest key members of his squad.

“The Coppa Italia final is our second target of the season, so we'll need to prepare as best we can,” he said.

“Rest is just as important as work at this stage. We need to be clear headed when going into the Champions League final.

"We can't go into that match feeling stressed, we need to be calm and know that we've got a good chance of winning."

"We've reached this position on merit, thanks to gradual and consistent improvement as the season's gone on."
