The debate as to who the better of the two superstars is continues, with the Uruguay forward making his intentions known, feeling that at the start of their respective careers, Messi was on a higher level.
"Messi is a natural. It's in his character," Suarez told Le Buteur.
"Messi is the best player in the world. He was born with his qualities.
"Ronaldo has progressed over the course of the years and has worked very hard to reach his current level.
"He was not at the same level when he first made his debut, though. That's why I think Leo is the better of the two."
Suarez, who has combined with Messi and Neymar to score 112 goals between them in all competitions thus far this season, will hope to be on target tonight as Barca travel to Bayern for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
Suarez’s name was not on the scoresheet in the first leg, as a Messi brace and a late goal by Neymar secured the 3-0 victory.
Kick-off at the Allianz Arena is scheduled for 20:45.
