The 12 youngest scorers in UEFA Champions League history

With the UEFA Champions League taking centre stage again this week, here are the 12 youngest players ever to score in the competition, including FC Barcelona's Ansu Fati.

There is a star-studded list of teenagers who have managed to score their debut Champions League goal before even turning 18 years old, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Mateo Kovacic featuring as some of the competition's youngest ever stars to do so.

Blaugrana sensation Fati did not take too long to get off the mark in the UCL – he was just 17 years, one month, and nine days old when he netted his first Champions League strike against Inter Milan in December 2019.

Although he has just returned from a long spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury, Fati remains one of the most coveted youngsters in world football, and Barca are reportedly working hard to tie him down to a new deal as he will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Another La Masia star in Fabregas was 17 years, seven months, and three days old when he opened his Champions League account with a goal for Arsenal against Norwegian outfit Rosenberg in 2004.

Chelsea star Kovacic also had an immediate impact in Europe's top club competition – he was only 17 years old when he scored for Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2011. However, it was not a result to remember as his club suffered an emphatic 7-1 defeat at the hands of Olympique Lyon.
