UEFA Champions League match report Sevilla v Bayern Munich 03 April 2018

The match started at a high tempo with both sides showing a lot of energy although the Bavarians edged the home side slightly on possession stakes.

Sevilla had a penalty appeal after 15 minutes after Joaquin Correa appeared to have been brought down in the box but the referee instead booked the winger for diving.

Pablo Sarabia broke the deadlock for the LaLiga outfit in the 32nd minute with a wonderful volleyed strike inside the box at the back post.

Eight minutes before the break, Jupp Heynckes’s got a precious away goal fortuitously after Franck Ribery’s cross was was unwittingly deflected into the net by Jesus Navas .

Javi Martinez kept the visitors in the game five minutes into the second stanza with a crucial last ditch tackle to deny Sevilla’s Franco Vazquez who was clear through on goal.

Thiago Alcantara gave the Bavarians the lead in the 68th minute with a header at the back post following a cross from Ribery, 1-2.

The flow of the match was interrupted in the final 15 minutes as both sides made numerous substitutions.

Sevilla committed a lot of men going forward in closing minutes but the Bavarians managed to hold on for the 2-1 win.
