UEFA Men's Player of the Year nominees announced for 2019/20 season

UEFA have confirmed the final three nominees for the prestigious Men's Player of the Year award for the 2019/20 season with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both missing the cut.

In a dramatic campaign which was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic before an explosive end to the Champions League as Bayern Munich reigned supreme, it comes as no surprise to see two of the German giants players included.

Captain Manuel Neuer and striker Robert Lewandowski have been shortlisted for the award along with Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

The winner of the title is set to be announced along with the Women's Player of the Year and position award winners during an official ceremony, accompanied with next season's Champions League draw in Nyon Switzerland on 1 October.

Meanwhile, the Europa League award winners will be confirmed the following day, with Ever Banega (Sevilla), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) and Romelu Lukauku (Internazionale) vying for the top honour.
