'Devastated' Tuchel breaks his silence on Chelsea exit

A devastated Thomas Tuchel has finally broken his silence following his surprise departure from Chelsea.

The Blues made the decision to part ways with the German boss last Wednesday following a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in their 2022/23 UEFA Champions League opener.

Despite Tuchel leading the London club to the UCL title in the 2020/2021 campaign, new co-owner Todd Boehly pulled the plug on his reign just seven games into the new season and swiftly replaced him with Graham Potter.

Since Tuchel's exit, reports have suggested there were many disagreements between the head coach and Boehly, including their opposing stances on Cristiano Ronaldo, while it is also claimed there were long-running tensions that have been building up behind the scenes, leading to the breakdown in relations that could not be repaired.

The 49-year-old has since opened up about his shock exit from the EPL side.

"This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write and it is one I hoped I would not need to do for many years," Tuchel said, per the Daily Mail.

"I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

"This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally.

"Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.

"The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever.

"I am honoured to have been a part of this club's history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart."
