The truth behind Chiefs skipper Khune's fruitful patch of form

With captain Itumeleng Khune having reclaimed his starting berth at Kaizer Chiefs, the goalkeeper has seemingly revealed that a big lifestyle change has yielded some fruitful results.

The story

After quite a lengthy struggle regaining his form and confidence at Naturena, Khune finally broke through in the team again last month after two seasons riddled with fitness issues.

It was clear that the shot-stopper was not in his peak condition during the last few years. However, he now appears to have finally turned a corner since the turn of 2022, as he visibly went harder in the gym.

The veteran began consistently documenting his home training, proving that training doesn't only end at Naturena for him. In recent months, his wife Sphelele Makhunga also began playing a prominent role, as she has consistently partnered with her husband during his workout routines with their personal fitness trainer.

Albeit Khune has demonstrated that although the intense private workouts go a long way, a switch in his diet was also fundamental and getting him back in shape.

Along with his wife, the couple have become vibrantly colourful with their new blond hairstyle, while also enjoying some richly colourful fruit, which has been one of the biggest secrets to the Amakhosi skipper's resurgence.

The pair are increasingly health conscious, as their attitude draws some awareness to having a good diet and an active lifestyle. Khune has bared all the benefits of these changes in his life, with the solid performances he has been putting in for his side, with Chiefs yet to lose since his return in between the sticks.

Your thoughts, please?

Could Khune also make his way back into the Bafana Bafana squad in future?
