Haaland: The best African stars I've played with & against

Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has named the two best African stars he has played with in his career, as well as the three toughest players he has come up against from the continent.

The Norwegian sensation has been dominating the headlines since his €60 million (R1 billion) switch from Borussia Dortmund in June thanks to a flying start that has seen him score an incredible 17 goals in his first 11 appearances for the Citizens.

The 22-year-old is already setting records in the Premier League, the most recent seeing him become the first player to score three hat-tricks in three successive home matches.

With 14 goals in eight English top-flight outings already, the centre-forward looks on course to break Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's EPL record of 32 goals in a 38-game season, a milestone the Egyptian set during the 2017/18 season.

In an interview with South African broadcaster SuperSport, Haaland revealed that the Pharaohs' talisman is, in fact, among the toughest African opponents he has faced in his career, and also divulged which players from the continent are the best he has played alongside.

"I think with, the best is Achraf Hakimi and Riyad Mahrez," he said, having played with the Morocco international at Dortmund, while he is currently with the Algerian winger at Manchester City.

"They were both high level.

"Against, I played against Liverpool and Sadio Mane was really and, of course, Salah.

"[Kalidou] Koulibaly also really good. But I think Salah and Mane are the best I played against."
