Chiefs duo The Ngcobos flaunt their cultural might

Kaizer Chiefs duo Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Njabulo Ngcobo quite obviously share a number of things in common, and among those things is the immense pride they have in their culture as the two Mapholobas have quite the bromance.

The story

Admittedly, the Ngcobo surname is among the most common last names in South Africa, along with the Mokoena surname. Respectfully, it is therefore no surprise when you find at least two people in any room in Mzansi who share this title.

One of the most popular players with this last name we have witnessed in the Amakhosi camp is former striker Sthembiso Ngcobo, who made over 50 appearances for the side during an inconsistent four years contracted to the club.

To avoid digressing any further, the active Chiefs duo had a really good chance to shine on Heritage Day, as the 22-year-old attacking midfielder attended training during that week wearing the Zulu traditional attire of isinene (front apron) and ibheshu (rear apron), whilst also carrying the symbolic shield.

More recently, the 28-year-old versatile star Njabulo was in E-Msinga Emachunwini, in KwaZulu-Natal attending a traditional ceremony. Although we're not too sure if their clans are what brings them together, it is pretty clear that the pair have quite the bromance and they often refer to each other as Mapholoba.

The pride they have in their identity is delightful to witness and some may now have an idea why the two of them click. On the football side of things, each of them have been regular features for the Naturena outfit, having made a combined 15 appearances between them.

Did you know?

Both of them have contracts that expire in June 2024.

Your thoughts, please?

Have the two stars lived up to expectations at Amakhosi given how highly rated they were a few seasons ago?
