PSG to make shock Messi decision?

French giants Paris Saint-German are reportedly reconsidering their position on Lionel Messi's future amid rumours linking the superstar with a sensational return to FC Barcelona.

The Argentina captain appears to have finally found his feet in the French capital this season, having contributed with eight goals and eight assists in just 13 appearances across all competitions for the Parisians so far.

With things going well for him with both club and country, members of his former employers Barca, including manager Xavi Hernandez and president Joan Laporta, have continued to speak up his potential return to the Camp Nou next year, when his contract with PSG is set to expire.

The Catalans have made their stance on a Messi homecoming unmistakably clear, with recent reports in Spain suggesting that the LaLiga giants have shortlisted the Albiceleste skipper as their priority target for next season, in line with their new transfer strategy of signing top free agents.

Les Parisiens, meanwhile, were believed to be keen to extend Messi's stay at the Parc des Princes, but the player is said to have informed the reigning Ligue 1 champions he will only decide his club future after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

However, according to the latest from Italian newspaper Tuttorsport, with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos eager to rejuvenate the team and concentrate on signing young players, the executive is no longer inclined to keep Messi at the club.

With the four-time UEFA Champions League winner set to be 36 years old when the 2023/24 campaign kicks off, Campos is said to have decided he would rather build for the future than keep an ageing Messi in their ranks beyond this season.
