Man Utd 'make decision' on dropped Ronaldo

Following reports of a meeting between Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and Cristiano Ronaldo, the club has now made a big decision on the player after his exile from the first-team squad on the weekend.

A new development has emerged in the Ronaldo saga, after the player was excluded from United's matchday squad for their recent encounter with Chelsea, as well as training with the first team.

That decision was announced last Thursday after the 37-year-old left the pitch, and Old Trafford, while his side were still in action against Tottenham Hotspur the day before.

It is understood that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner first refused to be brought on as a substitute in that match, before deciding to walk away from the game with cameras pointed at him.

After that tie, Ten Hag was visibly disappointed with the Portugal international's behaviour and said he would "deal" with the situation.

In the lead-up to a meeting believed to have taken place between the pair on Tuesday, reports in England suggested that in order for Ronaldo to return to the first team, he would need to concede to two conditions: show remorse for his actions, and accept a reduced role in the squad.

Now, according to The Athletic, the club has decided to bring the striker back into the Red Devils' first-team fold, with Ronaldo once again training with his teammates on Tuesday afternoon, and that he will be in contention for the club's UEFA Europa League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday.

With the impasse seemingly lifted, the manager and the player are said to be in constant communication, with the former Real Madrid marksman now looking set to start the European tie later this week.
