Ronaldo suffers another 'transfer blow'

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly suffered another blow in his bid to secure an exit from the Red Devils in the January transfer window.

The Portuguese forward has been widely linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months, and it appears the player's search for a new team will continue at the turn of the year.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Napoli, who are currently first on the Serie A log, were interested in signing the Red Devils striker to bolster their league title push.

It was said that the 37-year-old would be open to returning to Italy – he spent three years at Juventus between 2018 and 2021 –  and was willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move went through.

Luciano Spalletti's side had thus become the latest team to be linked with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, following reports that Chelsea have reignited their interest in the Portugal captain.

However, ahead of Napoli's 3-0 win over Rangers in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli revealed that there are no plans to make any additions to the squad in January.

"Ronaldo in January? We won't sign any player in January," he told DAZN.
