Riveiro bemoans Bucs' slow start in Soweto Derby loss

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro bemoaned the side's slow start to the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

A stunner from Yusuf Maart late in the second half steered the Amakhosi to a 1-0 win and ultimately killed off the contest to hand Arthur Zwane's men the bragging rights.

"Not the beginning that we expect. Very low rhythm… I don't know the reason why both teams… actually there in the first half," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"There was a time where they looked a little bit better – a couple of ball behind our back but it was quite equal first half even though we didn't play the game we were supposed to play today.

"Second half, I think we improved and changed a bit our structure and we managed to control the rhythm of the game much better.

"We played much more time in their half and when the game was a bit better for us in my opinion they scored a beautiful goal and we couldn't change the result anymore," Riveiro added.

The loss has urged the Spaniard-born to now analyse the clash closely and be better next time as there's no specific reason why they were on the losing side in the first place.

"Many things. When you lose obviously you going to find a lot of reasons. There is never one reason why you don't get the result. We need to know and analyse why the game didn't work in the beginning. It's my responsibility so I have to do it and try to help the next time," he said.
