FC Barcelona registered a 2-0 win over Almeria in LaLiga, as Gerard Pique bid an emotional farewell on Saturday evening at the Camp Nou.
It was Pique's last match at home for Barca after confirming his retirement in midweek following the 4-2 win at Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Barca were given a chance to go ahead on seven minutes when the referee on consultation with the review team awarded them a penalty following a hand-ball, but Robert Lewandowski missed the target.
The Blaugrana didn't drop the tempo despite the missed penalty and threatened again when Pique dragged a snap effort wide before Ousmane Dembele saw a loose shot blocked.
For all the early dominance, Barca were caught later on after Largie Ramazani broke away and looked to beat Marc-Andre Ter Stegen from a one-on-one but the German parried.
Barcelona looked on all fronts for a way through and were close when a step-over from a tight angle by Frenkie De Jong ended with a low shot before Dembele had a point-blank shot saved by Fernando.
In the second half, Barca were ahead after a long pass from Sergio Busquets picked out Dembele out wide and the Frenchman cut inside and fired in the bottom-corner.
Dembele was on course for a brace minutes later after he beat the offside trap and rounded Fernando to face a gaping goal, but he was unable to profit.
Barcelona did double their cushion inside the second half when De Jong attacked a loose ball off the woodwork and volleyed in, whilst Ansu Fati entered for Ferran Torres.
The Catalans looked for a third later on, with Pique substituted to huge applauds in an emotional spell as the match finished 2-0.
