Rulani hails 'fantastic' Sundowns players

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena was full of praise for his team after their Carling Black Label Cup triumph on Saturday evening.

It was the Brazilians maiden appearance in this cup and after edging AmaZulu 3-0 in the semi-finals, they crushed Pirates 4-0 in the final with Cassius Mailula on the double.

"Congratulations to the club, to the entire football club. Congratulations again to this awesome group of players. It's an honour and privilege to be their coach. Congratulations to senior management, the Motsepe family," Mokwena told SuperSport TV.

"They deserve this especially after the disappointment in the MTN8 and also for our supporters they deserved this and we had to it also for them.

"So, congratulations to the entire club the coaches but I can't give enough praise to these fantastic group of players.

Two different teams were set out by the Brazilians granted this being a one-day tournament and there was little to no difference in the application on the field of play.

"Look, we try to create a personality and then we try to create schemes from that personality and there are certain things we want to see on the pitch regardless of the personnel," he added.

"So, as I said the game belongs to the players and we are just grateful that they are able to carry and follow instructions. During the games, we've got very little influence as coaches you know.

"But you can't stop and give enough praise to these group of players. Congratulations they deserve it and we are very proud of them."
