Laporta: Messi always has his home at Barca

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta says Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi knows that he will always have his 'home' at Blaugrana.

The Argentine attacker has been in superb form for PSG this season after registering 12 goals and 14 assists across all competitions for the French champions.

Messi's contract with PSG expires at the end of the current season, but there have been reports he could be on his way to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami next season.

The Catalan giants have also made it no secret that they would want the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner to return to the Camp Nou, which is home according to Laporta.

"Leo knows that at Barça he always has his home," Laporta told SPORT.

"But let me not talk about Leo because he is a player for another team and we would enter again into a series of statements and counter-statements that would not benefit us at all.

"He has a valid contract with a European club. I can only say that Leo has been the best player in the history of Barca."

The Argentine spent 21 years at Barcelona, where he established himself as one of football's all-time greats after winning numerous trophies, including four UEFA Champions League titles.
