France star Karim Benzema has been ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after picking up an injury.
The team announced on Saturday that the Real Madrid striker had picked up a thigh injury in training just a day before the tournament kicks off.

As a result, Benzema will play no part in Les Blues World Cup title defence in Qatar this month.

"Hit in the quadriceps of the left thigh, Karim @Benzema is forced to give up participating in the World Cup," France tweeted.
"The whole team shares Karim's sadness and wishes him a speedy recovery"
Benzema becomes the second striker to drop out of the squad this week after RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku had to withdraw after sustaining injury during training.
