Brazilian giants 'preparing' offer for Ronaldo

One of Brazil's biggest sides are reportedly preparing an offer for free agent Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently parted ways with Manchester United.

The 37-year-old can now sign for any club of choice after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with United six months before it was due to expire.

Ronaldo was looking to leave United before the start of the season after the club failed to secure UEFA Champion League football for this term.

Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon and Napoli were linked with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, but there were no serious offers for his services.

However, Portuguese outlet Veja have reported that Flamengo are preparing to make an offer for the 37-year-old once the transfer window opens.

The report claims that while talks have not commenced, the club have negotiating with sponsors to work out a financial package for a possible deal.

Meanwhile, Portugal star Bernardo Silva claims his teammate Ronaldo is still capable of playing at a high level.

"We are happy to know that we can still count on Cristiano – not just the goal but he worked a lot for the team," Silva said, as per the Mirror.

"What he does now is his decision and the decision of whoever it is who offers him a contract.

"I think he can still play at the very top. It depends on what Ronaldo wants. I don't know what he wants for his life. He has to speak with his family and decide for himself, right?

"I support his decision in terms of it's his decision. He's my team-mate in Portugal – if he's happy, we're happy. He's been fine, he's been great."
