With recent reports suggesting that Lionel Messi is close to agreeing a deal with a new club, a new development regarding his future has now reportedly emerged.
Despite being in the middle of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina, Messi's club future remains subject to heavy speculation as the player is expected to consider his next move after the conclusion of the tournament.

With his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expiring in June 2023, the 35-year-old will be eligible to enter into negotiations with other clubs from 1 January 2023. FC Barcelona and Inter Miami have been mooted as potential destinations, while PSG remain hopeful they will be able to extend his deal beyond this season.
Earlier this week, reports emerged suggesting that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was close to agreeing a deal with Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, which is co-owned by former Les Parisiens star David Beckham.
According to Sky Sports, however, Messi is expected to stay in Europe at least until June 2024, while it is further claimed that the Albiceleste captain is not close to agreeing a deal with any team, including an extension with his current employers, who are said to be his first option having already approached him with an offer to renew.
Despite Inter Miami's confidence in securing the former Barca star's services, it appears the Florida outfit is not a guaranteed destination for the player at this stage.
Meanwhile, Blaugrana president Joan Laporta recently vowed to stop publicly discussing the Catalan giants' pursuit of the forward as it is in "bad taste".
