Maritzburg United have confirmed the release of several first-team players as new head coach Fadlu Davids continues a major squad overhaul for the remainder of the current campaign.
Maritzburg have spent the break sitting bottom of the pile and have brought back Davids to replace John Maduka after the former Malawi won two out of 13 league games.

In an attempt to address the club's concerning form, Maritzburg have shown the door to seven first-team players.
Given Mashikinya has already since joined Sekhukhune United following his departure from Maritzburg where he lasted just six months after coming in from Royal AM.
His departure from Maritzburg is surprising considering that he featured in 11 games missing only two from the 13 that the club has played to date this term.
Also out is Lucky Baloyi who has also lasted less than a year and leaves having featured in only 13 games since January.
Lelethu Skelemu has had little joy since arriving from Stellenbosch and has also left.
The exit door has also pushed out Isaac Masia, Zukile Kewuti, Tshidiso Monamodi, and Thato Lesenyeho who all didn't play a single 90 minute match this term.
These departures were confirmed by club boss Farook Kadodia during a conversation with KickOff.com.
The Team of Choice is set to make new signings ahead of the January transfer window.
