Brazil thrash Korea to book WC last 8 berth

Brazil thrashed Korea Republic 4-1 to seal their spot in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals on Monday evening.

The Selecao welcomed back Neymar after he missed the last two games with ankle injury, as he joined Raphinha, Richarlison and Vinicius Junior in attack.

Tite's charges had the perfect start after Vinicius Junior gave them the lead inside the first seven minutes with a curled shot into a gaping net after a square pass by Neymar.

Neymar quickly doubled the lead for Brazil on 13 minutes with a cheeky penalty after Richarlison was brought down in the box by Woo-Young Jung.

The Selecao were mesmerizing going forward as Richarlison added a third goal shortly before the half-hour mark after he started a move in the box and finished in off with a low strike across after a splitting pass by Thiago Silva.

The Reds could not cope with the pace of Brazil on transitions as Lucas Paqueta made it 4-0 with nine minutes left of the first stanza after he arrived late in the box to fire home a lofted pass by Vinicius.

The game continued to open up early in the second stanza as the Selecao's Raphinha drew a fine save from goalkeeper Seung Gyu Kim while Vinicius Junior could not capitalide after he was teed up by Richarlison from the rebound.

However, Brazil took their foot off the pedal after the hour-mark and Vinicius Junior was rested with 18 minutes remaining as he was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli.

Korea eventually found a consolation goal four minutes later after Seung-Ho Paik fired home an unstoppable half-volley from the edge of the box, leaving shot-stopper Alisson with no chance.

Neymar was also withdrawn by Tite in the last ten minutes as Rodrygo entered the fray to offer fresh energy in attack.

The Selecao threatened to add more goals to their tally but the damage was already done, as they setup a quarter-final clash against Croatia.
