Tuchel wants job with WC quarter-finalists?

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly expressed an interest in taking charge of one of the nations that were recently knocked out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

England, Brazil, Netherlands and Portugal all exited the global showpiece at the quarter-final stage on the weekend, with France, Croatia, Argentina and Morocco progressing to the semi-finals.

While the Selecao and the Dutch have parted ways with their managers since, the Three Lions are believed to be awaiting a decision from Gareth Southgate, who has said he will review and reflect before deciding whether or not he should stay on in or leave his role.

With the manager considering an exit from the job, there have already been a few rumours doing the rounds as to who could take over from him if he does step down.

According to The Sun, Tuchel wants the role if Southgate leaves it in the near future.

The former Blues manager is said to be in Germany waiting for the right opportunity to get back into management, and reportedly sees the England job as an ideal opportunity after seeing first-hand the young talent at the team's disposal during his spell in charge of the Premier League club.

However, his fate rests on Southgate, who is said to still be highly regarded by the Football Association, who are keen to keep his services.

It is further claimed, however, that should Southgate vacate the position, the FA would prefer to have a British coach come in.

It is believed that Chelsea's Graham Potter, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe would all be considered for the managerial vacancy if Southgate resigned.
