WATCH: Mamelodi Sundowns' awesome gesture to Manchester United legend Jaap Stam

Mamelodi Sundowns have made a cool gesture to Manchester United and Netherlands legend Jaap Stam, as they build on their smooth relations with various legends of the game. Here's a look.

The story

Sundowns' dominance on the pitch has overshadowed the good work that the club has done in terms of building its brand. The team is now seen as a commercial powerhouse, that has hosted South African music superstar and millionaire Cassper Nyovest at their training ground and also received the acknowledgment of international artist and celebrity DJ Khaled.

Couple that with the fact that they hosted FC Barcelona with Lionel Messi as recently as 2018, then you soon realise how huge they are as a club and brand. Red Devils great, Stam has enjoyed a hugely successful career in England, Italy, and his home country of Holland, winning well over 10 trophies in the process.

Bafana Ba Style revealed that they had shared a small gift for Stam as he is set to depart South Africa following the conclusion of the World Cup in Qatar.

"Our very own coach Rulani Mokoena was part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup panel with legendary Dutch and Manchester United defender Jaap Stam.

"We hope you enjoy your gift from the Masandawana family!"

Masandwana are set to resume their campaign with a nail-biting clash against Soweto giants Orlando Pirates on Friday 30 December. With a game in hand, a win against the Bucs could give them an eight-point lead ahead of second-placed Richards Bay FC on the DStv Premiership table.

Their CAF Champions League season will recommence on 10 February when they take on Sundanese outfit Al-Hilal, followed by fixtures against Coton Sport FC of Cameroon, and Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Stam had a trophy-laden career where he won an incredible 16 trophies, including the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League and three consecutive Premier League titles between 1999 and 2001 with the Red Devils.

He was also excellent for his country, as he won 66 caps for Holland, including appearances at the 1998 World Cup and three participations at the Euros in 1996, 2000, and 2004. The former PSV Eindhoven centre-back also won the 1997 Dutch Footballer of The Year.
