Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed how the club had to tighten its' grip on discipline to keep players mentally focused during the DStv Premierships' unfamiliar festive season fixtures.

Asked how he kept players focused in preparation for the unfamiliar fixtures during the festive season, Zwane said that discipline was key.

"I'm the most difficult coach to work with, discipline comes first with me, and I always remind them [players]," The 49-year-old told journalists.

"I don't like players that drink and smoke, for many reasons. I for one, didn't even go to parties at some point. If something was happening at home, I would just show up for one hour and go home.

"I'm not saying must not socialise, but I'm saying a complete footballer needs to know what he wants in his life.

"Gone are those days where a professional footballer would have 20 friends. You must know what you want. Know your circle, who you mix with, who your trust who you don't trust and who you want to work with

"It was always going to be difficult  because this time of the year is the festive season, a lot of people were thinking about going out and enjoying themselves.

"We had to put our foot down and say: 'this is how we're going to do things. If we fin out that you're doing something, you're out. We'll focus of those who want it the most,' and that's' why I see it boils down to one thing: discipline."
