Al Nassr release Ronaldo statement after new rumours

Al Nassr have now released a statement after new rumours regarding their new superstar Cristiano Ronaldo emerged earlier this week.

On Tuesday, it was claimed that Ronaldo will earn an additional €200 million (R3.6 billion) as an ambassador to promote Saudi Arabia's joint 2030 World Cup bid along with Egypt and Greece.

Al Nassr have now released a statement after new rumours regarding their new superstar Cristiano Ronaldo emerged earlier this week.

This would be on top of the the €200 million he will reportedly earn in the two-and-a-half-year deal he signed with the team.

With the trio of nations seriously considering a bid to host the tournament, it was said that Ronaldo's ambassadorial role would bring his reported earnings in Saudi Arabia to over €400 million (R7 billion).

However, Al Nassr have now released a statement dismissing these reports.

"Al Nassr FC would like to clarify that contrary to news reports, Cristiano Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr does not entail commitments to any World Cup bids," the official statement from the club read.

"His main focus is on Al Nassr and to work with his teammates to help the club achieve success."

The 37-year-old will make his debut in Al Nassr's upcoming exhibition match against Paris Saint-Germain on 19 January.
