'Neymar is the biggest flop in the history of football'

With Neymar seemingly struggling for form since club football returned, the superstar has now been described as "the biggest flop in the history of football" following Paris Saint-Germain's latest defeat on Sunday.

The Brazil talisman was a starter in PSG's most recent Ligue 1 match against Rennes, but the team lost 1-0 despite his teammate Kylian Mbappe coming off the bench to join Neymar and Lionel Messi in attack.

Paris Saint-Germain have suffered two defeats since Ligue 1's restart, one of which was a 3-1 loss to second-placed RC Lens earlier in January.

Neymar, who impressed in the first half of the season for Les Parisiens, is yet to find the back of the net in three club games since returning from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Following Les Parisiens' latest defeat to Rennes, journalist Daniel Riolo had some serious criticism for the Selecao playmaker.

"He made fun of all the PSG supporters by having a good half-season because he had a World Cup to prepare for," the reporter said on After Foot RMC.

"In terms of recruitment, transfer, salary, it's the biggest flop in the history of football."

Neymar started the season off in strong form, accumulating 15 goals and 13 assists in 21 games prior to the global showpiece in Qatar, but has not been nearly as impactful upon his return from the Middle East.

Despite their recent losses, though, PSG are still in top spot in Ligue 1 with 47 points after 19 matches, head of Lens by three points.
